Three die in shootout on Medellín soccerfield

Three people died and another three were injured when hitmen opened fire

According to police reports, two young men indiscriminately started shooting at the people who were taking part in a game of soccer on the field.

The two suspects of the shootout were caught by the police and are currently being heard by authorities.

Medellín has seen a surge in violence the past months in what seems to be increased tensions between local militias, paramilitaries and demobilized members of the AUC. Early April the situation escalated to the extent that Colombian President Álvaro Uribe ordered to militarize neighborhoods in the north of Colombia’s second largest city.
