Three die in Cali factory shootout

Three people have died during a shootout in a furniture factory in Cali on Thursday morning, reported Caracol Radio.

According to authorities, a group of hooded men were trying to rob a factory in Yumbo, on the outskirts of Cali in the southwest department of Valle del Cauca, when they were confronted by the son of a night guardsman.

Shots broke out and two of the men were fatally wounded, although as one of the men was dying, he managed to fire his weapon and hit the guard, who later died in a Yumbo hospital.

The assailants who died are yet to be identified, while police unsuccessfully chased the remaining members of the group as they fled into a nearby forest.
