The national entity charged with safeguarding Colombia’s threatened individuals needs a multi-million dollar boost in order to keep up current levels of protection, according to Colombia’s Minister of the Interior.
Colombia’s Finance Minister outlined a $110 billion national budget to Congress on Tuesday, which has been touted by President Santos as a list of “social priorities for a time of peace.”
President Juan Manuel Santos told Colombia his administration’s roughly $90-billion budget proposal for 2015 is meant to “achieve peace with prosperity,” placing a special emphasis on social spending, according to local media.
Following supposed “false accusations” of a $67.2 million budget cut to Colombia’s science institute Colciencias, the ministry’s director was forced to resign, reported Colombia’s Semana news magazine on Tuesday.
