Switzerland has signed a treaty with Colombia agreeing to stop the illegal importation of Colombian archeological artifacts, and may also return some artifacts to the South American country.

The two countries have agreed to regulate the trade of folk art pieces produced in the pre-Columbine era.

Switzerland has signed similar agreements with Peru, Italy and Greece.

Several Latin American nations have petitioned European and U.S. museums to return their archeological pieces, most notably when Peru sued Yale University in the U.S. in order to recover artifacts excavated at Machu Piccu.
