The Court sent a letter to Uribe asking what criminal activities the demobilized bosses of the Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) exactly were suspected of and how they had not been cooperative with Colombia’s Justice and Peace law, a law designed for the demobilization of the AUC, granting lower punishment to those who cooperate with justice and compensate their victims.The Court stresses its Board of Criminal Appeal had the legal right to interfere with the extradition and complained it had to hear about the extradition through the media.The 14 paramilitary chiefs were extradited to the United States in a surprise move by the Colombian government. They will stand trial for alleged involvement in the production and trafficking of drugs.
