Spanish police find Colombian woman’s baby dead in cupboard

Spanish police arrested a Colombian woman in Madrid Monday after discovering her premature baby dead in a cupboard.

The woman, aged 30, told authorities that she had voluntarily gone to Hospital Gregorio Marañon de Madrid where she claims to have had a miscarriage.

The police said that the woman showed clear signs of having had the miscarriage, but they were unable to locate the body until they went to the women’s home.

A search of her home revealed that the 24-week old baby had been wrapped in plastic bags and stowed in her kitchen cupboard.

The woman is being kept in custody at the hospital for the murder of her child while the autopsy is being conducted at the Forensic Anatomical Institute.
