Sophia Vergara up for an Emmy

Colombian actress Sofia Vergara receives a best supporting actress nomination for America’s most prestigious small-screen awards, The Emmys.

The Barranquilla native was nominated for her role in the mockumentary comedy series “Modern Family,” in which she plays a Colombian housewife.

The actress confessed to being stunned by her nomination; “With this accent, it’s very hard to find roles. To have been able to find a role so perfect for a person like me with my ethnicity, with the way I look is unbelievable.”

Other contenders include the smash hit musical comedy series Glee, which scooped 19 nominations, and Steven Spielberg’s history of warfare “Pacific,” which got 24.
