Sofia Vergara nominated for Golden Globe

Colombian bombshell Sofia Vergara has received a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the U.S. sitcom Modern Family for the second time, the organization announced Thursday.

Competing for the “Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical” alongside Vergara’s Modern Family are HBO’s Enlightened, Showtime’s Episodes and Fox’s Glee and New Girl.

Vergara will also be competing in the “Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television” category for her part in Modern Family.

The Colombian-born actress faces off against Jessica Lange, Kelly MacDonald, Maggie Smith and Evan Rachel Wood for the honor of winning the category.

Vergara’s latest movie, The Descendants, has also been nominated in the “Best Motion Picture – Drama” category of this year’s awards show.

Other actors who have been nominated for a Golden Globe are George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, among many others.

The Golden Globe ceremony will be held on January 15.
