Soccer player who killed fan released from prison

Javier Florez, the soccer player who shot dead a fan in Barranquilla in July, was released from prison after he paid off the victim’s family.

The Junior Barranquilla player agreed to pay 150 million pesos (US$75 thousand) to the family of Israel Cantillo, who he had murdered after the fan had criticized Junior’s defeat in the Copa Mustang final.

Besides paying the fan’s family, the soccer player had to pay a 1.5 million peso (US$750) fine to be able to leave prison.
