Skiing Colombian eliminated at Vancouver’s giant slalom

Colombia’s first ever representative at the Winter Olympics, Cynthia Denzler, failed to make the cut in the morning session of the Ladies’ Giant Slalom.

The event started at 10 AM local time at Whistler Creekside, where Denzler started as planned but missed a gate halfway down the hill, and was disqualified.

Denzler has Swiss parents and was born in Santa Ana, California, but acquired Colombian citizenship through her father who opened a clothing factory in Pereira in 2000.

The Olympics are not quite over yet for the 26-year-old, who is also scheduled to participate in the Ladies Slalom on Friday, February 26th.

The 2010 Winter Games, which take place in Vancouver but has all of its skiing venues in Whistler, finishes on Sunday.
