Shakira to speak at the Oxford University Union

Colombian pop-icon Shakira on Monday speaks at the Oxford University Union, one of the world’s most renowned debating societies.

The pop star will address members of the 186-year-old British institution. Her speech will be about the access to education of chidlren worldwide.

Shakira is famous not only for her hit songs, but also for her charity work. She founded the Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) and ALAS foundations, that respectively work to help Colombian and Latin American children.

Fellow-speakers at the Union have included such varied figures as Michael Jackson, Winston Churchill, Malcolm X and Diego Maradona.
