Shakira sings on charity track for Chile

Colombian singing star Shakira has completed recording her part for the new charity single “Gracias a la Vida,” to raise money for victims of Chile’s devastating earthquake.

In a project organized by Chilean musician Beto Cuevas, the sultry Colombian singer lent her voice to the charity track alongside other big-name artists such as Spain’s Miguel Bose and Mexico’s Fher.

Shakira was also joined in the recording studio by her male counterpart, the Colombian rocker Juanes, who sang a solo part for the track.

Record company Warner Music expects to release the single on May 12, and the money raised will go to charity organization Habitat for Humanity, for reconstruction projects in disaster-torn Chile.
