Colombian singer Shakira broke up with her long-time boyfriend Antonio de la Rua, friends of the singer told Spanish newspaper El Pais Monday.
The couple had been together for eleven years and had their relationship previously survived rumors of the couple being involved in a sex video with Alejandro Sanz and Shakira’s alleged relation with Spanish soccer players.
But this time, “the two want to take time to think,” an anonymous source close to the singer told the newspaper.
Shakira had been with De la Rua, the son of Argentina’s former ex-president Fernando de la Rua, since 1999.
