Colombia pop star Shakira said Monday that she put her career on hold for now as she is “dedicated to her family and her belly” that is carrying her second child.
The Colombian singer is expected to launch a collection of toys, a new album in Spanish and go on a world tour but not until her second baby boy is born, the artist confessed in an interview with El Espectador.
With the announcement of being mother for the second time, Shakira postponed her career plans for another year as she prefers to focalize her energy and time on her family.

“Before I was able to be in a recording studio until 4 o’clock in the morning but now I no longer have this luxury, this privilege, because my family needs me,” said the superstar.
Family life taught her “to be much more specific, give fewer turns to things and get to the point faster”.
Shakira said she has learned much more from the experience of being a mother and decided to materialize her lessons in a toy collection for children between 0 and 18 months.
“Through playing with my son I realized what works best and I have tried , from there , to apply this knowledge as a mother in the creation and design of this toy line,” said Shakira.
The toy line called “The First Steps” is launched under the signature of toy producer Fisher-Price and aims at helping in the early development of children.
The sales of her toy line will enable the singer “to continue generating benefits to further develop early childhood development initiatives in Latin America,” the pop star revealed.
Shakira has long been involved in education through her Barefoot Foundation and has been appointed ambassador for UN education initiative this year.

Of all her professional plans, Shakira confesses that working on a new album in Spanish is what she looks forward to the most. The album, however, will have to wait until the following year.
The long awaited world tour of the Colombian pop sensation is also part of her future plans, but the dates are yet to be confirmed.
