Shakira is well-known for making grown men cry with her hip-shaking pyrotechnics, and the singer recently admitted that her World Cup “Waka Waka” performance reduced even her own family to tears.
Speaking on ITV’s “James Corden’s World Cup Live” the singer confessed that “You know, my mum, my dad, everybody called me from Colombia, they were crying … it was especially emotional for a lot of people.”
“I think that the fact the World Cup is taking place in Africa just makes it extra special. South Africa is also a country that has so much history and it was just one of those moments I’m sure I’ll never forget,” the singer continued.
Shakira’s performance in Johannesburg was watched by tens of millions of television viewers worldwide.
