Shakira will be returning to Colombia in February, 2014, to inaugurate a new education center for at-risk youth, reported Vanguardia Tuesday.

This will be the sixth school that Shakira’s foundation Pies Descalzos has opened in Colombia.

The Pies Descalzos Foundation, created by Shakira in 1997, works on improving the education and welfare of children living in the most vulnerable parts of Colombia.

The education center, located in the city of Cartagena, in the area of Lomas del Peye, will benefit 1,800 students.

“In 64 days we will be opening our 6th Fundación Pies Descalzos school in Cartagena, Colombia. It will be attended by 1.800 boys and girls from the most vulnerable areas, who live in extreme poverty and have been displaced by violence,” said Shakira on her Facebook page.

The Colombian pop star’s new album, still untitled, is scheduled to be released January 14.
