Shakira nominated for American Music Award

Colombian pop idol Shakira has been nominated for an American Music Award, the organizer of the event announced.

The singer faces competition from Puerto Rican reggaeton singer Daddy Yankee and Spanish pop star Enrique Iglesias to become the Favorite Latin Music Artist.

Contrary to the Grammy awards, the winners of the AMA’s are elected by popular vote. Fans can vote for their favorite nominee on the website of television network ABC.

The award ceremony will be broadcast live by ABC on November 21.

Shakira was nominated for an AMA five times before, and has won twice.
