Shakira meets Brazil’s president

Colombia’s most famous singer Shakira and Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff meet to discuss social programs to support Brazil’s poor children, reported El Espectator on Thursday.

Shakira was in Brazil for her “Sale y Sol” world tour and took the opportunity to meet with Brazil’s leading lady. The Colombian diva hopes to expand her humanitarian organisation the Alas Foundation into Brazil to fight eradicating extreme poverty, conflict and inequality and improving early childhood development.

The ALAS Foundation was set up in 2006 to promote early childhood development in Latin America. Shakira has a history of meeting with powerful leaders, last year she spent time in the White House with Barack Obama discussing children and education in the U.S.
