Colombian singer Shakira performed together with funk legend Stevie
Wonder and R&B singer Usher at the inauguration party of incoming
U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington.
Shakira and Usher sang Wonder’s 1973 hit Higher Ground as part of a massive concert attended by some of the world’s greatest stars in show business.
Despite the cold, masses gathered before the Lincoln Memorial to celebrate the change of Presidency or simply to see superstars like Bono, Beyoncé or Garth Brooks perform.
Shakira had expressed her preference for Obama before the election. The recommendation by Colombia’s most famous singer was welcomed by the now-almost-President who said “it’s an honor to receive so much support from someone that talented and a person that generous.”
The performance was shown live on U.S. cable television.
