Shakira follows up No.1 video with spanish version release

Shakira stars in the video of the spanish version of "can't remember to forget you"

Colombia’s pop-sensation Shakira has followed up the release of last month’s hit single “Can’t Remember to Forget You” with an anticipated Spanish-language music video of the song, titled “Nunca Me Acuerdo de Olvidarte.”

Taken from her forthcoming self-titled album “Shakira”, the Thursday release of the near identical video is performed by the singer without the help of American superstar, Rhianna, who appeared in the original English version.

The collaboration with Rhianna in the first video released late last month brought scathing criticism from some members of the public that deemed it too explicit and a bad influence on younger fans.

Despite this, the duet between Shakira and Rihanna reached number one on iTunes in 46 markets around the world and was in the Top 10 in 80 countries, including the United States, Canada, most European markets, and Latin America just after its release launch, according to Que news. The English music video already has nearly 150 million views on Youtube.

The song’s music, identical in both Spanish and English versions, combines elements of reggae and rock with the videos displaying Shakira’s sensuous Latino hip-shake.

The singer’s album is set for release on 25 March.
