Time magazine has named Colombian singer Shakira as a candidate for its 2012 list of “100 most influential people,” said the publication.

Time nominated Shakira based on her achievements in music and her work with Latin American child development foundation ALAS.

“Few recording artists have bridged Latin America and the rest of the world as effectively as Shakira.” Said Time.
