Pimiento was found guilty of having made a deal with extradited paramilitary commander Rodrigo ‘Jorge 40’ Tovar to secure being elected into the Senate during the elections in 2002. Pimiento won these elections gloriously.Pimiento had been mentioned by ‘Jorge 40’ during the demobilization process of the paramilitaries and Police found evidence of contact between the Self Defense Forces of Colombia (AUC) and Pimiento on the politician’s computer.
