The Colombian capital of Bogota announced Friday it has reinforced its police force with 2,277 extra officers to ensure security after the death of FARC commander alias “Mono Jojoy.”
Government Secretary Andres Restrepo told Caracol Radio that there will be a large police presence in the streets of the city, particularly in high-risk locations such as the Institute of Legal Medicine, where the body of Mono Jojoy is being examined. Six other bodies of guerrillas killed in the attack are also being examined there.
Mono Jojoy was killed Wednesday by an air strike on his FARC base in the department of Meta as a part of the government’s Operation Sodom, along with more than 20 other guerrillas.
