The Seattle Sounders FC have completed their signing of young Colombian forward Miguel Montaño after more than a month of waiting.
The signing was announced Friday after the team received Montano’s P-1 work permit and his international clearance. Montaño has been training with the Sounders since March 17.
The 18-year-old most recently played for the Quilmes Atletico Club in the fifth tier of Argentina’s development structure. He scored 13 goals in 19 games after scoring 18 goals in 24 games for the reserve team of Colombia’s Envigado FC in 2008.
The move makes Montano eligible to play immediately. Seattle hosts Columbus on Saturday.
