‘Satanists’ burn down Bogota church

A Satanic sect burnt down a church in Bogota on Thursday morning, the church’s priest told Colombian television.

“I think it is Satanic groups that make noctural pacts to carry out all kinds of mysterious celebrations,” father Octavio Mora told Noticias Caracol.

The church, located in the eastern La Pradera neighborhood, was completely destroyed by the fire.

“They completely burnt the baptistry, the sound equipment and the chairs we have for the people who come on Sundays to mass,” the priest said.

Mora told police that the suspected Satanists have threatened his life on several occasions and have previously stolen things from the church.

Authorities calculate that the damage to the church is worth $1.5 million.
