Santos’ spin doctor held at Bogota airport

Colombian immigration officials held President Juan Manuel Santos’ former spin doctor, Venezuelan Juan Jose Rendon, after finding “irregularities” in the publicist’s passport Tuesday.

Rendon was apprehended at Bogota‘s El Dorado airport because “the characteristics of the information sheet [of Rendon’s passport] show inconsistencies with those issued by the appropriate authority,” Colombia’s intelligence and immigration service DAS said in a press release.

The publicist was on his way to the United States when held by DAS officials.

Rendon’s lawyer said that the publicist’s detention was arbitrary and illegal and threatened to file a complaint against Colombian authorities before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
