Santos speaks in Davos despite hotel blast

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos delivered a speech on international organized crime at a lunch in , Switzerland, Thursday despite an explosion in the hotel where the event was scheduled.

The explosion occurred at 9 AM local time, three hours before Santos was scheduled to speak.

According to several press agencies, the explosion only broke windows. The organization of the World Economic Forum said a firework at the back of the hotel was to blame, but local police told Associated Press they were going to investigate whether the blast had a criminal origin.

The Forum-related lunch where Santos and Europol director Robert Wainwright spoke was called “Criminals without Borders.”
