Santos sends message of support to Colombians at 2012 Paralympics

President Juan Manuel Santos sent a message of support to Colombia’s athletes at the 2012 Summer Paralympics that started in London on Wednesday.

The South American country is represented by 39 athletes during the 14th edition of the largest international sports event for athletes with pgysical disabilities.

“I want to send you a message of support, encouragement and enthusiam in the name of all Colombians so that you may perform in the best possible way and keep the name of the country high,” Santos said at a public meeting in the northern Colombian city of Barranquilla.

Santos’ wife, Maria Clemencia de Santos, is in London to accompany the Colombian delegation on behalf of the government.

The 2012 Summer Paralympics will last until August 9. A total of 4,200 athletes from 166 countries are taking part in the massive event.
