Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos topped the list of 100 influential people in Latin America, according to Spanish newspaper, El Pais.
Spain’s most widely-read newspaper chose Santos for his efforts to bring peace to Colombia.
The publication referred to the government’s ongoing peace negotiations with the country’s largest guerrilla group, FARC, and praised Colombia’s president for trying “to end 50 years of conflict.”
Santos will appear on the cover of the newspaper’s weekly magazine on Sunday.
The singer Juanes, President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil, and President Enrique Peña Nieto of Mexico also made the list.
