Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos announced that military forces have killed nine FARC guerrillas in the south-western department of Cauca, Caracol Radio reported Wednesday.
According to the military’s commander in chief, 12 more guerrillas were injured in the attack, which took place in the rural area of Jambalo, Cauca, and was given the name “Beta” by the military.
The FARC column that suffered the losses is reported to be the same column that launched a cylinder bomb attack on the civilian population in the area months back.
Santos congratulated the armed forces, and asked them to not lower their guard until the terrorists and criminals realize that the path of violence will not lead them anywhere, according to a press release from the president’s website.
