Santos ranks best in region

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos has ranked first in an evaluation of over 20 governments in the Americas, according to a report by Mexican consultant company Consulta Mitofsky.

In only his seventh month in office Santos has received the “outstanding assessment” of a 77% approval rating, a four percentage point increase since his first month in office.

Santos was followed by President Mauricio Funes of El Salvador with 72% and Panamanian President Ricardo Martinelli with a 65% approval rating.

The survey interviewed over 75% of internal government members in every country.

The majority of the governments achieved a ranking between 40-50%, including U.S. President Barack Obama.

Ending the list was Peruvian President Alan Garcia with only 27% approval rating.
