Colombia president Juan Manuel Santos on Tuesday stressed that those responsible for the killing of six policemen on Monday will not go unpunished.
The assurance from the president came after news that 6 policemen were killed while on patrol in a rural area in the north of the Cauca department, suspected to be at the hands of the FARC guerrillas of the 6th front.
The president also expressed his sadness on behalf of the families of those killed; “Our hearts go out to the families of officers killed while performing their duty. These crimes will not go unpunished,” over his twitter account on Monday.
Nuestros corazones con las familias de los policías asesinados mientras cumplían su deber. Estos crímenes no quedaran impunes.

Colombian police general Jose Roberto Leon Riaño was reported implying the attack may have been revenge after a prominent member of the FARC 6th front, Duber Chiquito was killed by government forces.
