President Juan Manuel Santos does not care who wins Sunday’s elections, only that Colombians participate in the democratic process, Caracol Radio reported Friday.
“What I have asked is for people to vote consciously, choose the most suitable, the most capable [candidates], so that afterward no one will be able to complain if they stayed at home and didn’t vote,” Santos remarked.
Santos also commented that he favor any particular candidate, saying “It is incomprehensible, many people tell me, that you are allowing so-and-so to win, and I am not interested if either X or Y wins. I am interested in that democracy works, and that the people express themselves.”
The president called on Colombians to go out and vote early to avoid the possibility of rain preventing them from voting later Sunday afternoon.
