Santos officially confirmed president

Colombia’s National Electoral Council (CNE) has officially declared Juan Manuel Santos as the legally-elected president of Colombia for the constitutional period 2010-2014. The resolution also officially declared Angelo Garzon as Santos’ vice president.

Adelina Covo, president of CNE, said that after finishing counting and verifying the result of the vote on June 20, the committee was ready to issue the resolution.

Santos will become the eightieth incumbent President of Colombia when outgoing President Alvaro Uribe leaves office on August 7.
