by Kirsten Begg June 2, 2010

Colombian Partido de la U presidential candidate Juan Manuel Santos confirmed he had invited the Liberal Party to form a coalition for the nation’s second round presidential election scheduled for June 20.

“I come from the Liberal Party and I am pleased at the prospect of governing with the Liberal Party,” Santos announced at a press conference, following a telephone conversation with Liberal leader and unsuccessful presidential candidate Rafael Pardo.

“We didn’t speak about bureaucratic participation but rather about ideas and programs… the Liberal Party has interesting programs and proposals,” Santos said.

Breaking story. Expect more.
