Santos ‘dedicated’ to achieving peace in Colombia

Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos said Thursday he wants peace “without yielding”

Santos told the country’s War Academy that he will remain committed to peace without hesitation or yielding.

“I am going to continue [his peace commitment] without hesitation, without yielding. I know that one can give in but we are not,” explained the head of state.

The President also added that the military “has abided” by the order to continue fighting against the guerrillas.

FARC members know that the military follows the instructions to attack,” stated Santos.

The Colombian government has so far refused calls for a bilateral ceasefire while negotiators meet with rebels in the Cuban capital of Havana to negotiate an end to the country’s nearly 50-year-old armed conflict.
