Santos appoints new ambassador to Ecuador

The Colombian government appointed a new ambassador to Ecuador Friday, President Juan Manuel Santos confirmed via Twitter.

According to Santos, the new ambassador Ricardo Lozana Ferero has extensive experience in labor policy, diplomacy, and foreign trade. He has served as a commercial attache to both the Ecuadorian and Spanish Embassies.

Ferero is the second Colombian ambassador to Ecuador since Colombia and Ecuador restored their diplomatic ties in November 2010 after they were suspended in 2008 over the Colombian bombing of a FARC base in Ecuador.
