Colombia news - Santa Fe win

Independiente Santa Fe remain in first place in the Colombian Liga Postobon following a vital 1-2 win at Deportes Tolima.

Third-placed Tolima needed a victory to move into first place, at least for a day, but the Ibague outfit failed to take advantage of that opportunity.

With 26 minutes played, Nestor Salazar but the visitors from Bogota i the lead and teammate Sergio Otalvaro doubled that gap three minutes later.

Jorge Perlaza pulled one back near the half time whistle but Santa Fe successfully defended their lead in the second half.

In Saturday’s other game, Atletico Nacional beat Boyaca Chico 2-0 to jump into seventh position. Marcos Mondaini scored in the first half and Ezequiel Maggiolo did so in the second.

Nacional are seven points behind leaders Santa Fe but should still be able to climb some spots as they have three games in hand.

On Friday, La Equidad suffered their third defeat of the season, at home against America de Cali. Daniel Zapata and Aviles Hurtado found the target for America, both in the first half, for a 0-2 result.
