Santa Fe defeats Deportivo Lara in Copa Sudamericana

Bogota side Santa Fe defeated Deportivo Lara from Venezuela with a convincing 4-0 and will proceed to the second round of the Copa Sudamericana.

The nearly bankrupt Santa Fe came to an early lead after Sergio Otalvaro shot his side to 1-0.

Two more goals were made by Alejandro Bernal and Feliz Noguera in the second half of the game and following a foul in the Venezuelan penalty area, Yulian Anchico set the final score at 4-0 by penalty.

Santa Fe had lost the first leg 0-2.

The match was marred by a number of red cards, which left Santa Fe one man down while Lara only had nine players left on the pitch at the full time whistle.

Because of the 4-2 score over two matches, the Bogotanos will play Venezuelan champion Caracas FC in the second round of the tournament.
