Colombia news - Luis Seijas

Santa Fe extended their lead in the Colombian Liga Postobon to six points after a 0-1 win at Atletico Nacional.

Sunday’s top clash between Nacional and leaders Santa Fe gave the home side a chance to climb several spots and keep the top spot within reach.

But the only goal at Medellin’s Atanasio Girardot was scored by Santa Fe as Venezuelan Luis Manuel Seijas beat Argentinian goalkeeper Pezzuti on 65 minutes.

Santa Fe are now six points ahead of Deportes Tolima. Deportes Quindio and Atletico Huila follow at another point.

La Equidad climbed to fifth position after a 2-1 win over Real Cartagena. Ariel Carreño handed the Bogota side an early lead and Jhony Cano doubled that gap in the 72nd. Edilio Cardoso’s goal for Cartagena in the 83rd minute came too late.

Atletico Huila dropped two points in their away match to Deportivo Cali, as the current number four of the league were held to a goalless draw.

In the day’s remaining match, the bottom-two teams shared points as Deportivo Pereira and Envigado drew 1-1.

Currently on course for a spot in the next round are Santa Fe, Tolima, Quindio, Huila, La Equidad, Cucuta, Nacional and Medellin.
