San Andres concert festival a musical disaster

Anyone expecting fun in the sun at Colombia’s “Summer 40 in San Andres” festival over the July 4th weekend was disappointed with poor sound quality and angry musicians, revealed gossip site Sweet.com.

The multi-concert festival reportedly ended up being a disaster, despite the fact that the radio station responsible for the event, 40 Principales, had chosen a popular Colombian lineup — including J. Balvin, Santiago Cruz, and Sin animo de lucro, among many others — and the tiny, scenic San Andres island, located in the Caribbean Sea, as the setting.

Event coordinators quickly discovered, however, that putting on a good show requires more than a decent lineup and a tropical paradise.

Upon arrival, the artists were immediately dissatisfied with their lodgings, where they claimed there was nothing to see. The stage and sound system, they complained, were inadequate. Even the weather deteriorated. By the day of the performance, the island was in the midst of a thunderstorm.

Nonetheless, the show went on. But music lovers’ money was wasted on a poorly executed and dreadfully inaudible spectacle.

To top it all off, Santiago Cruz had to buy his own plane ticket home.
