Antioquia

Sail the Cauca River for a change

by Katharina Wecker May 26, 2009

Colombia news - boatride on the Cauca

Santa Fe de Antioquia is offering a new way to enjoy tourism – this time on the water. A two-story catamaran called the ‘Pioneer’ is cruising the river to experience both nature and ‘rumba’ on the Cauca River.

The Pioneer is a colorful double-decker boat with a bar, live music and many opportunities to enjoy social gatherings.

The route is safe and quiet thanks to the structure of the catamaran. An average tour takes about 45 minutes, but there are also routes of three hours.

Manuel José de Bedout and Carlos Mario Peña had this idea in order to promote tourism in the Western Antioquia department. They also run the guesthouse ‘Hostería de Cordeca’ which offers a swimming pool, food and accommodation for 30,000 Pesos, around US$ 13.

The boat departs at weekends and bank holidays. More information if you call: (+57-4)262 18 16 and (+57)310 808 41 30.
