Moscow-based helicopter consortium Russian Helicopters announced plans to partner with domestic repair and maintenance operators in Colombia, said Colombian financial site Portafolio, Thursday.
Company representative Cesar Adolfo Perez told Portafolio the immediate plan was to “offer technical support to authorized workshops that guarantee the tracking of components and parts and meet the demands and recommendations of manufactures in all stages of repair and maintenance.”
Russian Helicopters did not announce plans to begin manufacturing within Colombia, but Perez said the move into the country was part of “a priority to find strategic business partners to provide service in Latin America.”
Perez also said the company would not contract exclusively with a single Colombian partner. “We feel a monopoly would not be healthy for Russian Helicopters’ markets,” said Perez.
Russian Helicopters is one of the world’s largest helicopter manufacturers, whose models include the military Mil and Kamov series.
