Rumors put Betancourt on silver screen, Madonna on Shakira album

by Michael Kay October 7, 2008

The rumor mill produced two unconfirmed gems today. Hollywood heavyweights may make a movie on the life of former FARC hostage
Ingrid Betancourt and Madonna may collaborate with Shakira on her
upcoming album.

According to an Canal RCN report, a Betancourt representative is in negotiations with the directors of Gladiator and American Gangster about a movie onher life. It did not say whether it would be a documentary or feature film, or whether Ingrid would have a cameo.

And according to music website Tarabu and performance art website entradalibre.org, Madonna may sing alongside Shakira on her new album.

“I’m working on it, advancing it little by little, but by next year it will be ready for release; the collaborations–state of secrecy,” Shakira said recently.

Rumors of Shakira’s activity are notoriously uncertain. Earlier this year, UPI and press agencies from across the world reported she would make an album encouraging people to discard their stereotypes of Islam and Muslims. The singer later said it was untrue.
