Romanian metro station renamed after Colombian soccer star Falcao

Bucharest renamed six of its metro stations after famous soccer stars in anticipation of the Europa League final hosted in Romania’s capital on May 9 between Spanish clubs Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.

Colombian star striker and Atletico Madrid player Radamel Falcao’s name will grace the station formerly known as Muncii in Bucharest until May 10.

The other players who will see their names in lights across the city are Romanian legends Nicolae Dobrin, Ion Parcalab, Gheorghe Hagi, Raducanu Necula and Athletic Bilbao striker and Spaniard Fernado Llorente.

Falcao is widely considered one of the world’s premier strikers, scoring 21 goals in 2012.
