Rodríguez family was hiding assets: PG

The children and sister of former capo of the Cali cartel,
Gilberto Rodríguez Orejuela, were arrested because they were hiding
properties from the authorities, Colombia’s Prosecutor General said
Wednesday.

The family members were part of a group of 38 people that was arrested by Cali police in the early hours of Wednesday to be prosecuted for money laundering.

According to PG Mario Iguarán, the authorities followed a tip by the U.S. Justice Department.

A former family friend had told American investigators the family were hiding assets that were aquired with drug money.

The arrested family members of the capo may be extradited to the United States to face money laundering charges.
