Relic of Pope John Paul II to arrive in Cali

A vial of blood from the late Pope John Paul II is on its way to Cali, after the Holy See accepted a request from the Colombian Catholic Church to look after it.

Priest Jose Gonzalez, head of communications at the Archdiocese of Cali, confirmed that the vial would arrive in Colombia next weekend.

It will be kept at the Apostle St. Peter Seminar, in the southern Cali, where John Paul II stayed during his visit to Colombia in 1986. Later they will be moved to the church that will be built soon, bearing the name John Paul II.

His former Holiness died containing blood drops from the Pope, who died on April 2, 2005,aged 84, after blessing 1,340 people and canonizing 483 saints.
