Relatives suspected ‘false positives’ ask suspension US aid army unit

Relatives of nearly fifty persons who disappeared in Meta and are
suspected to be murdered by the army asked the United States government
to suspend aid for the army unit they say killed their loved ones.

The family members suspect the army’s 4th division of having murdered the people to seem more effective in their war against guerrillas.

According to the relatives, the extrajudicial executions took place mostly between 2006 and 2008 under the command of general Guillermo Quiñonez of the 4th Division.

The victims’ families asked Colombian President to dismiss the suspected general.
