Red alert in southern Colombia after eruption Galeras volcano

Authorities issued a red alert in the southern Colombian department of Pasto Wednesday after an eruption of the local Galeras volcano.

According to local vulcanologists, the volcano erupted at 9:14AM.

The red alert obliges all authorities to carry out an immediate evacuation of the area surrounding the volcano.

The Galeras volcano is one of Colombia’s most active volcanoes and has erupted a number of times this year already.
