Berenice Chávez, “queen of the Colombian song”, died Sunday in Bogotá
at the age of 87. She is considered one of the most influential voices
of Colombian popular music.
Chávez, whose career lasted over half a decade, was able to sing
traditional Colombian songs on every of the five continents, because of
her extraordinary voice.
She retired from the professional music scene in the 1980’s and has received numerous awards for her musical achievements.
The queen of the Colombian song was buried by family and friends in the Colombian capital on Monday.
